Horticulture is the science of the cultivation of plants. Horticulturists work and conduct research in the fields of plant propagation and cultivation, crop production, plant breeding and genetic engineering, plant biochemistry and plant physiology. The work particularly involves fruits, berries, nuts, vegetables, flowers, trees, shrubs, and turf. Horticulturalists work to improve crop yield, quality, nutritional value, and resistance to insects, diseases, and environmental stresses.

However, general requirements for this course include that students need to be 18 years of age or over and have an English language proficiency of IELTS level 5.5 or its equivalent. If English language proficiency is less than this, Ashmark Institute offers English Language courses to improve English to the required level.
